The Evolution of Cannabis with Humanity: The Past, Present, and Future

Weed is currently the trending plant in the world. With legalization, most people want to understand its impacts and how it can be of help to them. The plant has undergone various transitions through the years.

Here are some of the notable states of weed through the various transitions.

The Past

As one of the earliest available plants weed has a long history. However for the American context, the history that impacted weed the most dates back to the 1930s. Before this time, weed was a generally acceptable plant. Evidence of its widespread usage is seen from the several names it has. Some of the common ones are weed, cannabis, pot, dope, marihuana, among others. The several names mean various groups used it and labeled it as such.

A shift however came in the 1930s when the wealthy and the affluent started demonizing marijuana. This was after their kids came into contact with some of the users around and embraced it. The kids also traveled to other Asian and North African countries where quality weed was readily available. The only to stop further spread was to rail against the product.

Suddenly weed became ranked as “number one enemy.” The Marijuana Stamp Act of 1937 made cannabis use illegal. It remained as such for years with several people facing jail terms due to its use.

The Present

Even though banned, cannabis has always been a subject of curiosity. Several societies like the Chinese have claimed to use cannabis for medical purposes like painkilling, sleep induction, and sedation. Several celebrities have also been associated with weed funning more conversations surrounding the drug.

It was inevitable that scientists would research the properties of the drug. They conducted several human and animal tests to determine both the medical and recreational capabilities of the product.

The scientists established that marijuana is functional for both medicinal and recreational use. The studies also established that when taken, it does not affect users like other drugs such as alcohol.

Buying weed is currently the easiest. There are several online and physical weed dispensaries with a wide variety of weed strains to choose from depending on your needs.

The Future

Weed production, supply, and usage is headed for better times ahead. Several more states will legalize weed and expand the scope of usage. The wave is likely to spread to other countries as weed becomes a major item in the economic, health, and entertainment sectors.

The growth of technology also impacts the weed industry. Online access to weed has already grown. Setting up a pot shop online comes with few operational costs. It also has access to millions of clients on various social media and online platforms.

More people will also have the liberty to either grow their weed or purchase from the licensed pot shops.
